This Week On The Notable

Notable people. Notable stories. Notable ideas.

This week our Top Tip on Tuesday was about ‘Active Listening.’ This is defined by http://www.thebalancecareers.com as:

The process by which an individual secures information from another individual or group. It involves paying attention to the conversation, not interrupting, and taking the time to understand what the speaker is discussing.

I think the majority of us can admit to being guilty of putting too much focus on getting our own points across that we forget how great the opportunity is to learn from what others have to say. Often in conversation while the other person is talking, we are thinking so rapidly about what we are going to say next and how we are going to express it that we miss out on key information. Active listening is all about absorbing what is being said, rather than just hearing it.

On Wednesday Kirsty interviewed Jolie Andreatta, the costume designer behind the hit series Suits and Pearson. She tells us about how her childhood influenced her love for costume design, and what moments in her career have made her the most proud. As Suits is Kirsty’s absolute favourite TV show, this was a particularly exciting one for our blog!
