This Week On The Notable

Helena Nuttall

Notable people. Notable stories. Notable ideas.

Welcome to October! We’ve officially swapped out picnics and bike rides for lighting the fire and cosy nights in as the cold months of Winter approach us – I’ve spent most of the week hiding under my hood trying to stay dry. While I definitely prefer warmer whether, there’s pumpkin pie and scarf wearing to be enjoyed.

It’s a shame the usual events of the season have had to be cancelled this year (Halloween, Guy Fawkes Night, Thanksgiving, etc) but we can still enter into an Autumnal spirit from the comfort of our homes with horror movies and good cooking. And there’s always Zoom.

On The Notable this week I wrote about boredom, and especially with regards to lockdown. I hope those who had a chance to read it enjoyed the post and were able to relate.

Boredom

Kirsty explored what employers are looking for beyond relevant qualifications and workplace experience. Traits such as ‘drive and curiosity, agility and resilience, enthusiasm and team-work, open-mindedness, confidence and initiative’ are likely to stand us all in better stead than perhaps what can be seen on paper.

You may be pleasantly surprised to see that employers aren’t looking for A*s or firsts, instead they look for skills that can be transferred and applied to different situations.”

A new month lends us the opportunity to set new goals and make plans – get in touch with us to tell us any changes you have decided to make. Our editor Ellie has decided to go sober for October in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. Good Luck Ellie! Please see the link below if you would like to donate to this cause.

There’s lots to look forward to on The Notable next week, with some very inspiring businessmen and woman lined up to answer our questions and dish out some advice.

Wishing everyone a happy and productive week!
